Just taking the opportunity to post this before I finish it up completely. I still have a few more hours ahead of me on it, believe it or not. Easy character, still time consuming to execute. As you can see, I sometimes like jumping between Photoshop and Flash to figure out what I'm doing. When it's not my own character, I sometimes have to go through several passes before finding the... thing... you know, like how a sculptor finds the statue hidden in the stone? OR something? I'm sculpting lines, baby!
So yeah, this is my process. It's lumpy, but it works for me. I've never been one to really be able to just slam something out and have it be close to perfect. That would require some godly level of genius. By comparison, I'd say I'm like a sewer rat hiding in a dark corner, making little drawings in the mud with a twig
Aaaw, I spelled "BEFORE" wrong... I need to break for the night on this before I make a truly ugly mistake.
Huh! I've never thought of doing something like this! I usually just run straight through in either one or the other. I'll have to try this out! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, this is really wicked the progress on this and seeing the PS to Flash then bac k to PS. I really need to try Flash for inking one of these days. I just hope this guy isn't being too much of a pest for this commission. Glad he's at least easy. I'm really loving what I'm seeing thus far.
Oh, goodness, no he's not a pest at all. I'm having fun with the design ^^ Sorry if that sounded like complaining. I'm just pointing out that even simpler designs can still take time to work with. Yeah, Flash is great, in spite of its flaws!
Coolz. Nah, it didn't sound like complaining. It's just really cool you're using him as you explain this process. Very much yes on even simple designs taking time.
I just hate how Flash acts when zooming in when inking. Seems like the size doesn't change when zoomed in or mine's glitchy.
What version of Flash are you using? Pretty much every version of Flash is glitchy up the wazoo, but I've found that 8 gives me the best lines and least retard=based problems. LOL.
This is a cool method, I've never seen anything like it before digitally ... But I vaguely remember summer art camp doing something similar for traditional pieces. It really allows you to get the best lines, I love these.
Thanks so much! I've gotten so used to working with Flash that I find it actually helps me think through a drawing faster because it's so easy to change and manipulate what's being drawn. It's marvellous, really!
